This sweet girl has a very endearing and happy personality. One visit and you'll know what we mean! She has a confident attitude and is quiet, calm, and cuddly. She quickly won over her pickiest foster siblings. She is great with children, too. While she is not enthralled with cats, Sassy lives next door to 5 of them and has not bothered or barked at them. She is playful, active, and agile in spite of her extra 15+ pounds. She is definitely smart. You can practically see the wheels turning when she's trying to figure out what you want from her. She comes and sits quickly on command and walks fine on a leash. Sassy is house trained and crate trained, and enjoys car rides. At first she was hesitant and stiff on the grooming table, but she “melted” when she realized how much more comfortable she was when the horrific mats began to disappear. We are sure she will become as attractive on the outside as she is on the inside when her long coat grows back and her weight falls to a more appropriate level. She has good house manners, with one exception: she sits on the furniture postured like a princess on her rightful throne. Especially when the chair is in front of a window. Sassy LOVES looking outside. She's so cute that it's almost a shame to tell her “off” (and she quickly complies). She now has her own wicker basket bed and is happy to snooze there for naps and at nighttime. Sassy would love to stay in New Mexico, but she is also interested in what lies beyond.
