All kidding and Dr. Seuss aside, Sam is a wonderful girl. She will be 9 on her birthday in October and while she has the appearance of a much older dog she is full of exuberance. Sam is a dominant female who was relinquished by her owners since they were expecting a baby and were worried about her love of food intersecting with an infant's curiosity. Sam interacts well with other male dogs and might do will with a submissive female. She is housetrained, crate trained and obedience trained. She loves to swim and take walks with her foster family. She is affectionate but is also independent. She is very smart and learned the rules of the foster home quickly. Her only fault is her love of food which has led to counter surfing. Her first attempt at countersurfing in her foster home led to an unexpected result. She turned on an ancient Kitchen Aid industrial mixer which is extremely noisy and since it was not locked down it lunged to the counter edge scaring Sam half to death. She has not been interested in that part of the kitchen since. Her love of food does overtake her at times and she should be fed separately from other pets. In foster care, Sam has met preschool children on her walks and has been very patient with them but since she is a late-middle age lady she might enjoy a quieter environment then one with small children.
