He will bring the toy to you and set it down at your feet so you know it's time to play. He also enjoys playing with toys and cuddling. He likes other dogs and the cat, and we are going to test him with kids soon. He is housetrained and knows sit. He is very intelligent and learns quickly! Chester is definitely all Springer but he has a stocky build with little short legs so the shelter called him Shorty. He is adorable running in the yard, tail going like crazy, running after the toy. He is a real cutie and a happy guy. He also enjoys riding in the car. He gives kisses to everyone. When his stray hold was up, the shelter released Chesterfield to us because his ears were beyond what a normal adopter could take care of and he was in so much pain. Luckily, he came to rescue, because his ears were some of the worst we've seen... years worth of infection and lots of pus and yeast. However, a wonderful vet neutered him and cleaned out his ears. They will require more treatment and will be an ongoing concern. We don't expect them to be a chronic problem but the new adopters will need to be vigilant about cleaning and inspecting the ears. After his visit with the vet and a bath and haircut, Chesterfield feels like a new dog! He was originally thought to be age 2, but after the vet examined him she said 4 or maybe even 5, especially based on the tartar. The vet even gave him a free dental so his teeth are sparkly white. Chesterfield will be a fanastic companion for someone. He bonds easily, learns quickly, and is easy to get along with. He is already part of the family after just 2 days.
