Album Info:

Age: 8 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 40 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Meet Koda... the model Springer! His foster family reports that he is very well-mannered and lots of fun. He likes their springer and their cat, too. He is quiet and well-behaved and perfectly housetrained. He walks on a leash beautifully and he likes to ride in the car. Koda stays off the furniture, doesn't beg, and doesn't counter-surf. He does not jump up on anything or anyone. Koda is all about manners. Best of all, he's wonderful with the six-year-old boy in the household. On his first night at their house, the foster mom warned her son that Koda probably needed a quiet evening after coming from the shelter. So the little boy read a story to Koda. Koda snuggled in with him and loved it. He was terrific at the grooming salon. He came out of the groomer's strutting and dancing around. He carried his head high and walked through the parking lot like "Check me out!" He had more energy and seemed so happy!! Koda was found as a stray in Great Falls. He was quite matted and dirty, and on the skinny side. After a grooming, you can see how handsome he is. He is up to date on shots, neutered, and didn't have any health concerns. He is getting a dental cleaning. He has no ear infections, but has lost his hearing, probably due to his age. He can't hear you at all when you call to him. He does respond well to hand signals. If you pat your leg, he comes to you. If he is starting to eat the other dog's food, and you point your finger and say "no," he understands and stops. (That is the only time they have had to say no to him at all.) Koda gets full run of the house since he never gets into trouble. He would like a home where there is a cat or another older dog to lounge around with. Sometimes the foster family gives him his space from their young, bouncing-off-the-wall springer, and Koda is great with being the only dog, too. We would prefer to have kids age 6 or older, who are old enough to understand that we want them to be gentle and not startle Koda too much. Koda doesn't have an ounce of aggression in him, but why put him in that situation? He really enjoys children, so school-age children would be good. An older person would also be good, as Koda would never knock the person down. He is so easygoing, low-maintenance, etc. He is a "beta" dog who is just great with a dominant female. He has no anxiety and is just content. Although Koda is very happy, he is not really bouncy or jumping into your lap like some Springers. He likes affection but it is new to him. We feel that whoever had him before may not have petted him much. He gets more affectionate every day as he gets used to this awesome new life. We think that in about a week, he will be pretty affectionate. He gives you a lot of space when you are doing things in the house, so we wonder if he does that to stay out of your way or because he can't hear as well and doesn't want to be stepped on. His foster mom wondered about his life before because he looked alarmed she picked up a newspaper, and he retreated. You wish they could tell their story. Whatever the case, though, someone loved him and worked with him at some time because he is such a good dog! If you think you'd like a very nice, well-behaved dog who likes everyone, please consider Koda.
