Variety: Field-Bred This adorable little guy was relinquished to a local humane society by his family because they didn't want to deal with his food allergies and because he was too active for them. When the shelter contacted ESRA to see if we would be willing to take him into our program, we snatched this little cutie up quick as could be! According to his records his food allergies manifest in ear infections and an occasional urinary tract infection, but he is doing very well on a fish and potato food. He is a lively Springer adolescent, but not overly active for his age at all. He gets along well with other dogs and with cats (lives in the house with two older dogs and three cats). He LOVES to play, but when he can't get his foster brother or sister to play, he just flops by his foster mom's feet while she works at her computer. Although he sometimes wants to sleep in the bed with mom, he defers to the old Springer and usually sleeps on the floor next to the bed. He's pretty good about staying off the furniture—except when mom goes outside without him—then he wants to be on the sofa or on the bed where he can look out the window to see her. He loves children but is sometimes a little overwhelming for little ones that aren't used to doggie kisses! He's making good headway on some basic commands (sit, off, wait, etc), but he would benefit from some basic obedience training—and he would love the social aspect of that as well! A fenced yard where he could run and play and check out all the wonders of the great outdoors would be a big plus. He is crate trained but prefers a wire crate over the shipping crates. He does quite well when left for several hours when his foster mom has to be away. He is also well-behaved in the car and loves to go for rides! This wonderful little guy truly deserves to find his Forever Family so that he can just settle in and be loved—he certainly has a lot of love to give in return!
