Album Info:

Age: 8 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 48 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Rogue is a special Springer guy who is looking for the perfect home. One of our foster families spent a lot of time nursing him back to health, and they fell in love with him, but now they realize that Rogue would be happiest in a home with retired people or people who work from home. Rogue has become so affectionate and people-oriented that it is too tough to have both parents work and Rogue stay home alone. Rogue is the kind of dog who likes everyone. He loves the little boy in the house (a toddler). In fact, recently the boy laid on him and Rogue was happy about that. He loves his Mom and Dad, and is attached at the hip to the other Springer. He takes Velcro to a new level. He is submissive and there is never a worry about him not getting along. He is also well-behaved and never gets into trouble inside. Even though he is sad to be left alone, he is never destructive. He is housetrained, and knows how to listen. He does get on the furniture when invited up, as he loves cuddling. He doesn't enjoy fetch but loves to just run around in the yard and spends most of his time being a quiet, loyal companion inside. Let's start with Rogue's story. He was found as a stray in rural North Idaho, skinny, tired, and weak. He had been on his own for over a month, from his condition. He was so dehydrated and exhausted from his travels that he was described as being at death's door. ESRA stepped up to help Rogue. With the help of a kind vet, Rogue started his journey back to good health. Amazingly, he did not have an ear infection. He got all his shots and is heartworm negative. We did bloodwork, which came back normal, showing his skinny state was from malnutrition. He got his broken, infected teeth fixed and is feeling much better. He still needed to gain about 15 pounds. His legs were so weak that they shook and he couldn't stand up when I groomed him. He was groomed for several hours and had to be shaved down to remove all the burrs and thorns and yucky stuff. He was as patient as could be. During all the poking and prodding at the vet's office, he never was difficult. Now his legs are not weak, but are 80% better. He once had trouble getting up and we thought he might need arthritis meds, but he doesn't. He does great now. In fact, he jumps off the terraces. The only med he takes is Proin, which helps tone his bladder muscles so he can hold it throughout the night. Rogue is housetrained but had trouble holding 8 hours. After the Proin, there was never another accident. The family put in a dog door to make him more comfortable so he would not have to hold it. The Proin is $10 a month. The family will keep Rogue until another family comes along who has more time. This family would need to want a big, handsome snuggler who follows you from room to room (including the bathroom). If there is another dog in the house, he will instantly befriend it. Children or grandchildren would be fine. The main thing is that they need time for Rogue. If he can't see you or be with you, he does a pitiful little cry. If he can be at your feet while you are watching TV, he will be estatic. It does not take much to make Rogue the happiest dog in the world. And he deserves it. They don't come sweeter. Rogue will return all the love invested in him. His story will be a fine rescue success story.
