Honey came to ESRA from a puppy mill where we took in 14 dogs. Physically, the dogs were in good shape; nice coat, good weight, heartworm and parasite free. Socially though, they behave as dogs who have spent the bulk of their lives in a kennel. Honey has a beautiful liver and white silky coat. She loves her daily brushing. She has quickly learned about kenneling, leash walking, and house-training. It was amazing how quickly she adapted to the routines of family living. It was like she was just waiting for the moment to come to a home to live out her life, she is one of the more adoptable dogs we have fostered. Our challenge with Honey has been convincing her that there is enough food and love to go around. Honey gets along well with our alpha male; behaving in a socially appropriate manner, but around the lower ranking dogs she has her moments. We are working to correct these issues with Honey and she is showing great improvement, we feel that she will do best in a home either as a single dog or one that has a strong alpha companion.
