8/24/11 Nyah has had a set back. For those of you following Nyah's story, I wanted to let you know she has had a set back. She just wasn't acting right the last couple of days (not vocalizing, not eating well, eyes weren't pinning, did not want to come out of her cage) So I took her to see Dr. Corwin this morning. Nyah has a mass (abscess) in or around her crop wall. It will need to be removed and will be a tricky surgery with all the blood vessels in that area. Dr Corwin said she has probably had it since the initial attack. I always thought her crop looked funny on the right side. She will also need to have the rest of her wing amputated. The scab was just hanging there and when he gently pulled it, it came right off. It was just raw tissue underneath, no skin. The good thing is, the tissue is very healthy and their is no infection, but with no skin to grow around it, it will have to be removed. For now I just had a CBC and Chem panel ran. She did have Candida Albicans bacteria (thrash) in her stool and I am giving her Nystatin and am fixing to go get her some benebac as well. I will probably schedule surgery for next week, or maybe even Friday. He said the wing amputation will be easy and should not present a problem, but he is worried about the neck surgery. He will do both at the same time. Please pray hard. I am heartbroken.
