No one knows how long I had been a stray, but it must have been a long time because I was so matted! I was very uncomfortable! I am being treated for heartworm disease so I am living at a veterinary clinic right now. My foster moms want me to stay calm for awhile. I LOVE to go for walks on the leash! I get along great with other dogs, cats and PEOPLE. I love soft fuzzy squeaky toys. I hear my foster moms say all the time that I am the BEST Springer ever! I am housetrained and I eat very slowly. If I could find a nice quiet house to rest while I finish my heartworm treatment I promise you, you will fall so crazy in love with me! You can rub my belly all day long and I won't mind a bit. Note from Drew's Coordinator: When Drew came into ESRA's care his ears were so matted you couldn't tell where the matts ended and his ears began. He was very thin and just such a mess, he was so thankful to get all cleaned up, he was very good for the groomer. He unfortunately tested positive for heartworm and has received his first treatment. He will need a second treatment about the 3rd week in November. He is doing really well so far with the treatment and there is no reason to believe that he won't make a full recovery. We are looking for a foster-to-adopt home for him that can give him the love he craves and the quiet that he needs during his recovery period. Drew is an absolutely wonderful dog! He is so loving, gentle and social. He can lie for hours just getting his belly rubbed and being doted on. He loves to give kisses too! He is a very special boy and we are hoping to find a very special family for him to call his own. To know Drew is to absolutely love him! Update 11/25/06: Drew received his second heartworm treatment on 11/20/2006. He needs 2 more weeks of restricted activity after this date and then he can be an active boy again. Rumor has it Drew can't wait to chase his tennis ball at full speed!
