Album Info:

Age: 7 years Gender: Male Color: Black/White Weight: 55 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Are you looking for a friendly, cheerful, healthy boy with a trademark Springer wiggle-butt? Look no further... introducing Keeper! Keeper is 7 years old and has been lovingly cared for by his family since he was a young puppy. He is looking for a new home due to his family's overseas re-location, and he promises to share all he has learned about happy family life with his new owners. Keeper is a black and white field-bred male, with paperwork for AKC registration (current owner did not register him, but he is eligible and the paperwork is available if desired). He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and very healthy aside from needing to lose a few pounds (we feel your pain, Keeper!). Keeper is a medium energy-level dog who LOVES his walks and is accustomed to walking and jogging with his owner. He settles down nicely in the house though, and is content to be alone during the day while his owner works. Keeper will bark in "watchdog" fashion if he hears a noise, but does not appear to be an excessive barker. He is currently living with a female lab mix and he enjoys her company (no conflict whatsoever). Out in public, Keeper does not like to get too close to other dogs who are ON leash (for some reason, when they are OFF leash, he is isn't bothered). But this is pretty easily managed; Keeper will "sit" on command next to his owner when an on-leash dog is sighted, and they keep their distance until the dog passes by. Keeper was raised with a dog-savvy cat, who he will occasionally chase but never harms. Keeper is not well leash-trained, but he walks well on a flexi-leash and will sit at curbs. Keeper is best suited for a home with older children only (age 12 and over) as he will occasionally "steal" an object (usually a napkin), run under a coffee table with it, and may growl if someone startles him by reaching under the table and trying to grab it back from him. He is not food aggressive, does not guard toys, and is willing to "drop" an object if given a warning and the command. His "grumpiness" only emerges under pretty specific circumstances (when under a table with his stolen item), so it is easily managed, but young children might not remember these things. In general, Keeper is actually very good and gentle with children (his owner is a teacher and he has visited her classroom many times); it is just not recommended that he live with young children on a full-time basis. And last but not least, Keeper has an adorable face full of cute freckles. If this sounds like the boy for you, please contact his case manager. We bet you will agree that he is a "keeper"!
