Age: 9 months Gender: Spayed Female Color: Liver and White Weight: 35 lbs Variety: Bench, Show-Bred Birgie is a great little Springer girl who came to ESRA when her people could no longer care for her, her Mom. and her sisters. For having been an outside only dog, Brigie is adjusting remarkably well to the indoor life. She's doing very well with her housetraining, sleeps through the night on the sofa, and spends lots of time during the day curled up on a chair. We are working on her skills on lead ("you want me to go which way?") and to overcome her fear of the "very scary clippers"! Birgie has beautiful, thick, heavy ears, so getting her comfortable with routine grooming and cleaning of her ears will help prevent ear infections as she gets older. When we're outside playing, Birgie follows the lead of our alpha dog - she follows him all around the yard and tries her best to help him hunt birda, chase squirrels, or check out what the neighbors are doing. Birgie shares toys nicely with our other dogs; she also shares her food bowl - perhaps too freely, as she's about 7 or 8lbs underweight. She should put on weight nicely with a good quality food and supervision to make sure she doesn't give her dinner up to someone else. Birgie appreciates the company of other dogs and lives happily with two cats in her foster home. She's a gentle natured girl who likes to be by your side, or even better, in your lap!
