He is friendly to people and dogs in spite of having been locked up in a pen for many of his years. Bogey's owner happily gave him up when a concerned new neighbor offered to take him. And she contacted us. Lucky Bogey, at last!! Bogey is big boned but trim, surprisingly agile and athletic. He loves water, mud and swimming. A long energetic walk for Bogey is definitely both a family activity and play time. He's incredibly smart and eager to learn and please. He is learning his city "street smarts" and loves to camp and hang out in the woods. Bogey has excellent house manners; he is housetrained and crate trained and does not courntersurf, beg, chew, or bark. He goes straight to his bed when told. He walks well on a leash and rides quietly in the car. He comes, sits and stays. He's into routines and will let you know when they get broken. Bogey will not let you forget his eye drops, his walk, or his dinner (he'll bring you his bowl). Bogey is vocal and loves to talk to you. He doesn't bark but will whine and carry on while his tail is going a million miles an hour. He is always excited to see you and likes to let you know that you're appreciated. He quickly rolls over for a tummy rub and is happy to lounge by your side. Bogey would do well in a moderately active family that will take him on long daily walks. We've watched Bogey go from a somewhat lethargic and insecure dog to a delightfully youthful and athletic dog. Exercise and social activities are key. We expect that he would be good with children. He is great with other dogs but not good with cats. Bogey sees fine out of his right eye but has a reparable cataract blocking most of his vision in his left eye. Bogey had a benign growth removed from his foot and his full blood workup came back normal. He's in great shape, in part due to his foster dad's personalized doggie training program! And his shaved coat is growing in full, rich and shiny. He's a good looking boy. Bogey is deserving of the very best and will make someone a wonderful companion. Might that someone be you?
