Album Info:

Age: 4 1/2 years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 40 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Lady (formerly Annie) is a very special girl who is looking for a Forever Home that will lavish her with the love, attention and family environment she deserves. Due to a genetic factor, Lady has gone blind in just the last four months. Her brother Danny, who was an ESRA dog a few months ago, found a wonderful Forever Home in Northern California. The dogs originally had the same owner, and when Danny went blind, Lady was his guide dog. Then Danny was relinquished to ESRA and Lady was re-homed. Despite her sudden handicap, Lady is a happy, "bug-wiggle" dog who loves people, other dogs and attention. Lady's second home was on five acres in the desert. Due to an alpha female housedog, Lady was forced to be an outside dog. Although she had refuge from the desert's summer extreme heat and occasional thunderstorms and winter show, this was a big adjustment for this formerly pampered house pet. When she went blind, these owners decided to give her up because they were afraid she'd run into something on the property (like maybe a rattlesnake!) and get hurt. As it was, her foster mom pulled what seemed like hundreds of foxtails out of her feet, and the vet got out several more from her feet and ears. She had a bad infection from a foxtail impacted in one foot, but it's healing nicely. When Lady arrived in ESRA foster care, she renewed her lifestyle as the pampered housedog she deserves to be. She bonded quickly with her foster mom and is finding her way around the house and yard better every day, by following her foster mom's voice and also exploring on her own. She's a very sweet dog who gets along fine with the resident two Springers, and just the other day she and the male started playing! It brought tears to my eyes. Her favorite nap place is on her foster mom's lap in the recliner chair. The relinquishing owner said Lady loved his grandchildren. She's been bathed and groomed and was such a GOOD and patient girl the whole time she spent on the grooming table! I think she was simply basking in the attention! Now her true outer beauty has emerged; the inner beauty was always obvious. Blind dogs do very well when they are familiar with their surroundings, because their senses of smell and hearing become more acute. Lady would do fine as an only dog with someone who's home all day, but I think she'd be happiest with another dog. I promise the love you give her will be returned tenfold from this wonderful, affectionate girl.
