I have an acre to run and lots of brothers and sisters to play with and burn off some of my energy. I love toys, particularly tennis balls. I give the resident tennis ball champ a run for her money! I originally came to ESRA through a shelter, where I was dumped due to my former owner stating he had too many dogs. I was one skinny boy, but with lots of TLC and good food, I have put on a few pounds. I was adopted about a month ago, but just didn't get along with the resident cat, so a home with NO CATS would be best. When I first came here, my Mom and Dad were told I was pretty rowdy and not very well trained. To their surprise, I am quite smart and know several commands such as "Sit", "Down", "Give" and "Kennel." Perhaps I had some training in my short past, and just needed reinforcement. After just a day here, I was back up to speed. I was a little anxious my first night, but settled in very quickly. I now go in my kennel upon command, as I get cookies and my meals there. I also sleep there, and stay there on the rare occasions Mom and Dad have to leave to go buy us more food and treats! Because I am a very young, energetic Fieldie, an EXPERIENCED, active Springer family is a must! If you are going to be my new Forever Family you must be WILLING and ABLE to devote time to me and provide me with CONSISTENT, daily training; an obedience class would be a great start. From Cooper's foster parents: Cooper is a wonderful, loving energetic boy! He fits in great with our "family" and is just enjoying being part of the gang. We feel a home with a nice size yard and another young, active dog (Springer or similar breed) is best. A stay-at-home Mom or Dad, who can work with him consistently, is desirable. With a little daily training and lots of patience and love, Cooper will be that perfect addition to your family!
