Age: 6 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 66 lbs Variety: Field-Bred Chauncy wasn't feeling very good when we pulled him from the shelter where he found himself as an unclaimed stray living on borrowed time. His ears had a bad yeast infection, his tummy was upset because of the stress of being lost and then being in the shelter, and he still smelled a bit from his encounter with a skunk. We have taken care of all of those problems and he is feeling like a new man. Chauncy is a big teddy bear of a springer who loves hugs and rides in the car. He goes to his crate at bedtime or when we're away without being told to do so and is fully house trained. He can sit and shake on command, but that is a bit tricky as his hearing is somewhat impaired, probably due to the ear infection. If he can see your hand signals, he knows what to do. His girth reflects his habit of hanging around the cook or sitting next to the dinner table. Obviously, he was fed “people food” in his former home. He needs to lose a few pounds, but will still be a big boy with giant paws. Chauncy is very laid back and doesn't play very much with the three male springers in his foster home. He could be happy in a home with other dogs, but a single dog home would also suit him. He has been around children and is okay with their attention, but like with the other dogs, isn't drawn to play with them. He does have a strong drive to chase squirrels, chipmunks and probably cats. A home with a fenced yard where he can run off a few pounds without getting lost again would be ideal. Chauncy would make a good dog for a person or family who work all day as he can happily sleep for hours. Won't you consider giving Chauncy a home where he will be loved and won't have to worry about being lost ever again.
