Variety: Bench/Show-bred Chippy entered ESRA's care on Sunday 2/11/07.This resulted when his owner turned him in(Personal Reasons)at the San Gabriel Shelter who immediately notified ESRA. He was one of the filthest dogs we ever pulled. Although being flea and worm infested his personality sparkled as he was a true diamond in the rough. In his short time in foster care we have learned that he is a very sweet and loving boy.Rolls over for belly rubs and craves human companionship.He is a perfect gentleman while riding in a car. Good watchdog. Two immediate baths were required to get him clean and odor free during which time he was great.No problem. Our vet said he was wonderful getting his vacinations,microchip and checkup.No aggression whatsoever.He is now up to date on all his shots,worm and flea free,heartworm negative and is in excellant health. He cowers if you raise your voice or go to pet him unexpectedly and there is a fairly large scar on the top of his scull that is hidden by his fur.God only know what had happened to him. All I can say is NEVER again ! Enough said. At first he ignored our cats then,as he settled in, he chases if they run.I really don't think he had ever encountered any firsthand.The two that don't run he ignores so keep this in mind if you are looking to adopt him.A cat family will have to monitor him closely until acceptance is achieved by them. It takes a while for him to accept other dogs so it might be best if he were an only dog. He walks fairly well on a leash and the original owner said he was good with children although not tested here. He is a little leary of strangers and will bark at them but quickly settles down.Sit and down are in his vocabulary but stay needs work.He is also housebroken. Chippy is a Happy-Go-Lucky beautiful dog that will make someone a wonderful addition to a LOVING family. Please have your application to adopt submitted on line and have been approved prior to inquiry. Although Chippy has to remain in foster care for a minimum of 10 days please take the time to visit him to see if it's the right dog for your family.When that period is up he will be eager to enter his FOREVER/LOVING family. If any dog is more deserving of this it is surely him. Please consider adopting this BEAUTIFUL Boy. Chippy is worth making the trip to San Jacinto. Believe me.
