Album Info:
Age: Adult Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 42 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Fred was a stray pulled from the Lancaster shelter. He spent an unusually long time at the shelter because after his first stray hold was up, a microchip was detected and thus started a second hold to try to trace his owner. This wasn't possible so ESRA was finally allowed to pull him and bring him into foster care after 20 days in the shelter. Fortunately he was a healthy boy except for a bad ear infection and very dry skin, both of which are currently being treated successfully with antibiotics for the ears and a diet of good dog food.. As a stray, nothing is known of Fred's history, including his former name. He was named after an uncle of his foster mom, who was a “gentle soul” just like Fred. He clearly has had some training as he knows sit, shake and stay. He walks well on a leash and rides wonderfully in a car, lying quietly on the back seat. The vet puts his age at 8 years. Fred is pretty much a Velcro dog. He follows his foster mom everywhere and loves attention. So far he hasn't asked to be a lap dog; instead he'll lay on a dog pillow (or the couch) as close as he can get to you. He doesn't get on beds but instead sleeps on a dog pillow right next to the head of the bed. He loves dog pillows; who wouldn't after a hard concrete floor for 3 weeks at the shelter! Fred was very matted and in need of a serious haircut when he came into ESRA's care. After a soothing (for his dry skin) bath and clipping, we found a rather small boy under all that fur. Fred immediately bonded very strongly with his foster mom, so please don't consider adopting him unless you will likewise bond with him. He will make a wonderful companion for walks, running errands – anywhere & everywhere he can go with you.
