Age: 3 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 45 lbs Variety: Field-bred Deke is definitely an outdoors type of guy! He seems to enjoy doing chores and getting down and dirty. Luckily, he doesn't mind being cleaned up, either! Deke is doing well after his neutering last Monday. He has a tremendous amount of energy! He still loves the outdoors! 1. He is an extremely friendly and "soft" dog. 2. He has learned to get along very well with the cats. 3. Once you have his attention he does obey commands. He received 3 months of professional training in IA. 4. He does not chew. 5. He retrieves very well and returns items to hand for anyone that needs a dog to do this. 6. He gets on well with other dogs and has respect for the horses. 7. He will sit until verbally released with minimal effort. 8. He loves to run. 9. He kennels on command and does not bark that I have heard. We will plan to work more on leash training and concentration. Also, we will work on calming down when in the house. Deke has a problem sitting still for longer than 30 seconds and even now either chases his tail or runs around in circles, although this is decreasing. He is still learning to "play" and would do well in a family that already has an older dog. Update 02 JAN 07: Deke is now walking very well on a leash. He stops at the curb and sits when he is asked to Sit. He enjoyed his trip to Chicago for the Holidays, and he did very well with the relatives and their puppy. He is just a very nice dog.
