Age: 4 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 60 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show -bred Duke is a big lover boy. He is the King of Cuddlers! His foster mom reports that he is very easy to live with. He knows Sit, Come, and “Go to your Bed.” He is housetrained, and good on a leash. He is a tiny bit chubby, but in great health. Inquire only if you would like a big lap dog. He bonds quickly and wants to be your Forever Friend. The foster home loves him so much that they really considered adopting him. We've had him in foster care for a few weeks already. Luckily for ESRA, the foster parents decided to adopt him and continue to be a foster home. Duke does very well with the resident dog in the foster household. He and Gracie are great friends. However, we will need to be careful with Duke around other dogs. He has been in a couple of dogfights. We enlisted the help of a behaviorist. She recommended that Duke stay on a leash, and stay out of off-leash dog parks. He does great on a leash and in situations where he is secure, like at home with Gracie. So, when we meet a prospective family for Duke, we will spend some time making sure that Duke will do great with the other dog in the family. Duke has been around young kids (ages 3 and 5) and older kids (9 and 11) and has done great. Duke would do well in a home with kids, and with or without another dog if he and the other dog are friends. No cats for Duke, please. They are too fun to chase! The foster family would really like to see Duke in a home where the people had a lot of time to spend with him. He is just too sweet to have his personality unappreciated. They are hoping for a family who can appreciate his cuddliness and think of him as their special boy.
