Album Info:

Age: 4 years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 45 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Blossom was found in front of a flower shop on a busy thoroughfare north of Houston. She appeared to have been hit by a car, so the florist took her right away to the closest vet. After a thorough exam and x-rays, it was determined that Blossom's injury is an old one. Her leg is dislocated at the hip and the knee. She gets around just fine, and doesn't seem to be in any pain, but we are concerned that she may just be hiding her discomfort. We are discussing what treatment options are available and what will be the best for her now and in the future. UPDATE 9-27-06: Blossom is thriving in a temporary foster home where she enjoys the two children (under age 6), and the company of a male Springer. She goes on daily walks in the neighborhood, and is completely housetrained and mannerly at home. She is being spayed today, and is current on all vaccinations and preventatives. The next step for Blossom will probably be amputation of her hind leg. There's just so much wrong with it that fixing it would require multiple surgeries, extensive costs, and long recoveries for Blossom. We would love to find a "foster-to-adopt" home for this beautiful girl, so that she can settle in with her new family before her surgery. (All her medical expense will be paid by ESRA.) Our vet says to remember that "dogs are born with three legs and a spare"...and as the owner of a three-legged dog, I can attest to the fact that they go on just as if they have all four legs - running, playing, climbing, jumping. Our goal is to make Blossom as active and pain-free as possible.
