Age: 5 years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 35 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred Hi, my name is Buffie! As you can see, I am a real cutie-pie. I have lots and lots of curls and yes, it's true - a short, adorable Mohawk hairdo! I came to my foster home from a local shelter where I was placed when my owner went into assisted living and her family didn't want me around. Luckily, ESRA knew of me and rescued me from the shelter. I then went to stay at a kennel with lots of other dogs until my foster mom came and took me to her home. I was really scared because I had never been anywhere else but home before. Now that I've been here for a few weeks, my true personality is emerging. I am a sweet, loving, active girl who likes to play ball, tug of war, run with the other dogs, and cuddle. Lots of cuddles and belly rubs are my favorite! I am housetrained, know basic commands such as Come, Sit, and Down. I am learning not to jump on people, and to sit when I want to be cuddled. I need some training on leash manners and, outside of the yard, cannot be trusted off leash because I really like to go where my nose will take me. Foster Mom: Buffie is an extremely happy dog, always smiling and wagging her tail. She is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, microchipped, and is a very healthy and busy young Springer. Buffie has allergies (hayfever) and needs to take over-the-counter allergy pills daily (about $7.00 a month from Walmart). Buffie loves children of all ages and is extremely gentle with them. She would do best in an active family - preferably one where there is someone home at least part of the day. If that is not possible, she would like to have another canine companion around to keep her from being lonely, and Buffie gets very lonely! Buffie definitely needs a large, fenced-in yard to play in as she is quite active. When she is outside, she rarely sits still. Buffie has impeccable house manners and loves to surround herself with stuffed animals, squeaky toys, and rawhide. She enjoys chewing on rawhide, but is gentle with other toys and does not destroy them. Buffie is possessive of her toys and food, but we are working on this issue and teaching her to "drop" her toys when commanded. She is also learning that it is ok to be petted and talked to while eating, and that no one is going to take her food or treats away from her.
