Album Info:
Age: 2yrs Gender: Neutered Male Color: Liver and White Weight: 36.5 Variety: Field-Bred 2/10/07: It's a pleasure to announce that Jeff and Kim have adopted Freckles. Best wishes from ESRA! 12/2/06: Freckles is very affectionate, energetic and sweet and makes his foster mom laugh. He must have lived outside because he came to us looking orange and white with long, unkempt, bleached out hair. Once he had a haircut, we discovered why his name is Freckles. Underneath all the white matted hair were beautiful “freckles!” He is a beautiful liver and white field-bred Springer. When he first arrived, he was skinny and anxious, chewed on everything and would not sit still. He was mildly heartworm positive, but has had his first treatment and is doing well. Since being neutered and getting fed well and loved on, he has settled down and is a real sweetheart. He has even learned to nap on the couch with the rest of his foster family. It only took a few minutes for Freckles to discover that he loves to play with balls and toys--they’re his security blanket. He carries them everywhere he goes. Being an outside dog and not knowing any better, he was quick to learn the difference between a toy and his owner’s stuff and only occasionally tries to sneak off with a shoe or sock. He is learning leave it very quickly since there are plenty of toys to substitute. The other day he discovered the mirror and the television and had me laughing just watching him interact with them. His tail is always wagging and he loves to bury his head in the crook of your arm while you pet him. He has quickly adjusted to life with his two foster siblings--a Brittany and Springer mix--learning not to irritate them by climbing all over them. He hasn’t been exposed to cats yet. He is well on his way to being fully housebroken (as long as we let him out regularly.) He has learned what to do when we go out in the yard and I tell him to “go pee.” Since I introduced him to a Halti collar, he walks perfectly on leash. He knows “sit” and sometimes “off” (he is a bit of a counter surfer) but still needs to learn a few of the basics like “come” and “stay” although he improves every day as he settles into our home. Freckles will make an incredible companion to a lucky family. He has a great temperament--is sweet amd always happy, loves to play, learns quickly, gets along with other dogs, and is great with kids. He is doing an excellent job of transitioning from outdoor to indoor living. He would be happiest with someone who can give him plenty of exercise and attention. He is a real sweetheart!
