Album Info:
Age: 18 months Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 42 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Due to a change in the Maggie's owner's living arrangements, and in her best interests, she was relinquished to ESRA. Her mom felt it best she have a yard to play in. She is a field bred in the truest form. To me, she is calmer than most I've encountered, but still has the hunting instincts while outside. Chasing bugs, flies, or anything that moves, is a joy to her. Inside she is very loving, calm, and as sweet as they come. She walks well on a leash, only pulling moderately. Sit, Stay, Down, and Shake are commands she has learned. She does not counter surf, and is a Velcro girl in her foster home. She is learning to deal with cats under close supervision. When they run, she chases, but has been put in her place several times by them if she gets too active.,One by one, they are teaching her they are not squeaky toys. As far as real toys are concerned, she doesn't seem that interested in them, but will chew on bones. Maggie gets along with the resident dogs, a male Springer, and Golden Retriever, just fine. They play very well together. We were told that older children are best suited for Maggie. we are unaware how she is with toddlers. Housetraining was not necessary, and she has had NO accidents at all in our home. She had been left alone while the owners worked and does not show any signs of separation anxiety. From the short time we've had her, we feel she is a very nice young lady that needs to find a loving Forever Home. If you think you are that family, please inquire, but make sure you have submitted your adoption application on-line, and have been approved to adopt one of our rescued Springers before emailing about her. NOTE: If you think Maggie looks familiar, she was adopted out to another home recently, but was returned due to "issues" with their thirteen-year-old resident Springer. After thirty days, Maggie wanted to be top dog to the senior who couldn't defend itself. She was returned for this reason. All multi-dog households have an alpha leader which is established by the dogs themselves. This poor old dog would not relinquish this role to Maggie, and that was the only problem. In all fairness to their senior, they heartbreakingly returned her to rehome. Maggie will be fine in any home where the pack order can be established fairly by the dogs alone. Remember, humans are the Supreme Alpha in any household, with the dogs following behind them in the order the DOGS decide.
