Well, before all of this happened, I was a homeless mom with 3 mixed puppies in tow. We wandered around until we found a family who would feed us and they even let us stay with them for a while. Then one day they took us to the shelter, I guess four new dogs were too much for them. The shelter personnel immediately called English Springer Rescue and they agreed to come get me. My foster mom was concerned about my mixed pups but the shelter assured her that they would be safe and put up for adoption. Mom got me checked out by her vet and then she groomed and bathed me. Wow, did I feel good after that bath. The shelter gave me my annual vaccinations, chipped me, spayed me so I don’t have anymore puppies, they also found I was heartworm positive. Mom, started my heartworm treatment and. . . Yeah!!!! I am now heartworm free. We discovered that I have a slight cataract in one of my eyes. The LSU Vet School checked it out. Bottom line is my retina is damaged so it would do no good to replace the lens. I see OK now out of that eye now but eventually it will go blind. My other eye is perfectly normal and you have to look at me in just the right light to even see my cataract. Of course, none of this effects my sweet little personality! Mom says I am the smallest springer she has ever rescued, I weigh only weigh 25 lbs! She also thinks that I am a very smart girl because I quickly learned how to go in and out of the doggie door, am housetrained, will kennel on command or with a treat (even though I don't always like it.) I’d rather be in her lap than in a kennel. I get along with all of the other dogs including two large male springers. The largest male springer who weighs in at 60 lbs. seems to especially like me and will let me cuddle up next to him when he is lying down. I have a beautiful shiny coat, love to get and give attention, am housetrained and know basic obedience commands. What more could you want! I can be an only child or have a doggie companion that is older and calm.
