Age: 4 Years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Variety: Field Bred Hi there - Baxter here. I just came into foster care, but I can tell you - things are already looking up. I use to spend all my days (and nights too!) outside in a kennel. Although there were people around sometimes, they didn't really seem too interested in me. I didn't have any toys or anything, so I just kind of hung out in my pen, hoping someone would notice me. When the ESRA ladies came, they let me out and the first thing I did was to jump on the picnic table and grab a water bottle and run around with it in my mouth. They tried to get it back from me, but I was too fast for them! Hee! Hee! That was fun! After running around a little bit more, they put a leash on me and we got into a car. Since I hadn't had much experience riding in a car, I was a little nervous, but it was okay. After a while we stopped somewhere and I got to go for a walk in the woods, which was really cool. My foster mom says I have to work on my leash manners. Sorry, but I haven't had much practice. I do know how to “sit”, though. That's pretty basic. Not sure about “stay”, or “lay-down”. I do know that I'm a healthy, heartworm negative four-year-old, liver and white field-bred boy. I'm up to date on all my shots, neutered and micro-chipped. Although I need to work on my house manners, I just know I'd make a good housedog. I'm smart and I'll try real hard to do good. They say that I'd likely knock small kids over (on account of my enthusiasm), so I would rather have a home with only big kids and adults. What I may lack in etiquette, I more than make up for in unconditional Springer love. So, how about it. Give my state coordinator and call and let's get together for some fun! Smooches, Dexter October Update: Since coming into foster care, Baxter has become a star student. He is already housetrained and excels at the basic commands such as sit, down, no and even heel! He is so happy to be in a home that his excitement overtakes his manners at times. A simple reminder, however, is all it takes to get him back on the right path. He loves playing ball but likes the belly rubs that ensue even more. Baxter is even trying to speak. Unfortunately, the only word he has mastered is, wooo, wooo. We think this translates into, I love you, I love you! Wouldn’t you like to be the permanent recipient of his affections?
