Album Info:

Age: 12 months Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 45 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Maxwell is a sweet young pup (maybe one year old) who is looking for a loving home. He started out very timid and shy from his shelter experience, but now completely lives for attention. He always wants to cuddle and get petted and be with you. He looks up at you with his big round eyes and you just have to love him. He is currently fostered in Alder, MT (near Virginia City, Dillon, etc.) and is very happy there. He loves his foster sister Holly, and snuggles with her on the bed. They also run and play together a lot. Like any young pup, he has a lot of energy. He has a playful side, too. He likes to run away with someone's shoes sometimes. He has not exhibited any destructive behavior but he hasn't been alone very much. His foster dad says he becomes more playful every day. Maxwell is housetrained and knows the following commands: sit, come here, and no. He likes his indoor / outdoor lifestyle very well. He likes to run and play outdoors and cuddle indoors. He has not been tested with kids or cats yet, but definitely likes other dogs. The foster family plans to test him with cats soon. I would imagine that he would be great with older kids but not kids under 5, because he is a rambunctious young pup who is still learning not to jump, not to nip playfully, etc. Maxwell would love a home with another nice dog to play with. His ideal home would have people who are home more than most, with a companion dog. Maxwell is in great health. He was neutered and got all of his preventative care (shots, deworming, heartworm test) and everything looked great except a mild ear infection. He came to us with a full tail but with his dewclaws already removed, thankfully. He is in great shape and never stops running when he's outside. He has discovered the Montana wildlife and really enjoys it! Maxwell loves to chase the pheasants but is probably not hunting material. Maxwell was abandoned at a rest stop with another dog, near Idaho Falls. Understandably, he was still scared of the car until just recently. He was afraid something bad will happen to him. The nice volunteers at the Idaho Falls Humane Society were worried about him as he appeared so traumatized. He was very scared of everything at first and he's come a long way. He is a champ! At this time, we'd like to find a home for Maxwell that is not too far away, that would not require a long car ride (5 or more hours) or a plane trip. While he has come a long way, his fear of travel and being abandoned are something to take seriously. Coordinator's Note: I have to say that Maxwell's coming to rescue was a huge team effort. Idaho Falls shelter volunteers took care of his vetting, boarding, and transportation arrangements, as we don't have any volunteers in that area of Idaho. It took several people to make sure that Maxwell was saved. They went the extra mile and little Maxwell is worth it!!
