Age: 2 Years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 42 Variety: Bench/Show-Bred 10/2/06: Congratulations to Kathy who has just adopted Katy. Another foster dog works her magic :-) Katy is a friendly, playful, 19 month old Springer. She is now heartworm negative and will be spayed in about three weeks. When Katy first came into rescue she was very submissive and now that she is feeling better she is trying to be Alpha dog. Foster home is working on this behavior and Katy is playing very well with Lexie, her foster sister. They have become inseparable and curl up together on adjacent doggie beds at night. Katy needs a home with a pool or access to water as she has Hip Dysplasia. Katy was born this way and now that she is enjoying good nutrition and supplements, along with her daily swims, you would never know it. She runs and jumps up on the couch and the back of Foster Mom's SUV with no problem at all. Katy will challenge you - whether it's to get off the furniture, or to take something inappropriate from her mouth. Katy needs a dog savvy owner who will continue with obedience training. We do not know how Katy was treated in the first 18 months of her life but we do know that she is afraid of objects (brushes, ear cleaner, etc) and will run away. She now will allow us to brush and comb her which is a long way from when she first arrived. Katy is a bit of a diamond in the rough but she is very loving and affectionate and will make a wonderful addition to her forever home.
