Album Info:

Age: 1.5 Years Gender: Neutered Male Color: Black/White Weight: 35 lbs Variety: Bench/Show Bred Fletcher came from a high kill shelter in Macon, GA. He's a beautiful, black and white Bench Bred boy estimated to be about a year old. A wonderful shelter volunteer pulled him for us and took him to the Vet where he had all of his shots. He'll return to the Vet next week to be Heartworm tested and neutered. Fletcher has a Guardian Angel in Washington, DC who saw him on Petfinder and offered to pay for his boarding until we find a foster home for him. But, I know Fletcher would rather be in a home of his own where he can feel safe and secure. Here's what the shelter volunteer said about him: "Fletcher is such a sweetheart. He was a little jumpy (not snappy) when the vet gave him the shot. I've noticed several of my rescues don't particularly like this vet...but the girls in the office were all loving on him...and he was good around other dogs and cats that were around the office too. He freely gives kisses and wants to lie in your lap whenever possible. His ears are a matted mess...must weigh around 5 lbs. a piece they are such a tangled mess."He is boarding with a male beagle right now and is doing fine. The vet guessed him to be 1 to 1.5 years old...and he weighed 28 lbs.Stay tuned as we get Fletcher all cleaned up and ready to enjoy the kind of life this sweet boy so rightfully deserves! UPDATE 11/11/05 - Fletcher started Heartworm treatment last week and this weekend was really a rough one. Fletcher got very sick from the treatment and had to make a couple trips to the vet for fluids, antibiotics and steroids. We're happy to report that he is doing really well. In fact, his foster dad said Fletcher started barking in his crate around 4 am and he went down to let him out and Fletch walked right outside went potty and went right back inside and back in his crate to go back to sleep. This is a big improvement as over the weekend he became very lethargic and dehydrated. Today he was much more alert and eating and drinking well! Fletcher has proven himself to be submissive to most dogs (i.e. he will stick up for himself with a dog that gets to be to overwhelming with him) and all people, but he does not do well with cats. He's a true velcro dog and just wants to be by your side to soak up all the loving he can. Fletcher is a petite springer weighing in the mid 30's. Fletcher will go back in to the vet for his second round of HW treatment in about weeks. He will be ready for his adoptive home after he completes that round. Please keep thinking good thoughts for Fletcher for continued improvement so that he continues to enjoy his new found life where he is no longer matted and will receive appropriate preventative care so he never has to go through HW treatment again!
