Age: 6 years Gender: Male Color: Liver/White Weight: 62 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show -bred Meet Murphy, the most mellow and agreeable pal you'll find. Like many of our foster dogs, Murphy is a lap dog. However, Murphy takes that to a whole new level. For example, on a car ride, he will gently lay on you, with his head on your shoulder for hours. If you sit down on the floor, he will come and put his paws on your leg and settle in for a nap. He loves to look up at you with adoring eyes and give you a kiss with his nose. To say he is affectionate is an understatement. Murphy loves all people. He is good with kids, even toddlers. He enjoys other dogs and is reserved and sweet with cats. He loves car rides. He is housetrained and knows sit. He is a very well-behaved boy. We haven't tested him a lot on his own, but we know he doesn't get into trouble when people are around. He also does pretty well on the leash. He's strong, but doesn't pull very hard. Murphy is also great at the vet and groomer. You can't meet this dog without falling in love with him. Murphy may be in our foster care awhile before he is ready to go to a new home. Murphy came to us in bad condition. He had 3 year ear infections and food allergies. After a buzz cut to help his skin heal, he is on medicated baths and new food. One of the medications for his ears is a steroid which is helping his skin, too. The ears are seriously infected but we are seriously treating them. We expect Murph to be a whole new dog in about a month. His skin, eyes, and ears are already showing improvement. We'll be working with a great vet to get these conditions under control. His new family will have to commit to weekly ear cleanings and medication. He may always need ear ointment. The skin and food allergies we expect to clear up very soon, but the ears will be a lifetime concern. Murphy is very lucky that he still hears well. He is a great patient and doesn't squirm when getting his ears done. Now that is a champ! In other ways, Murphy is healthy. He's neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, great teeth, etc. He's a little chubby but we don't have to bug him about it. We're just glad he likes his hypoallergenic dog food and is eating well. We're still learning about Murphy's likes and dislikes. I know he LOVES rawhide bones and any kind of chewy treat. I've been told he loves to swim, (although that is not a good idea for awhile with these ears). I don't know if he likes to play fetch yet or what other toys he likes. I'm sure he'd love a doggie park as he is so social. He really likes being inside and napping with other dogs and humans.
