Album Info:
Age: 3-1/2 years Gender: Female Color: Black/White Weight: 37 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Kalie was pulled by ESRA from Friends of the Valley Animal Shelter in Lake Elsinore. She was picked up as a stray two weeks ago. No one claimed her. Her choke colar had to be cut from around her neck because she had grown into it and it would not slide off. She was quite a mess with mats and foxtails all over. Boy, was she excited to see us when we arrived to evaluate her! Our evaluation was completed and not one bad trait was discovered. She is one happy wiggle butt dog, a true diamond in the rough. At her foster home she was immediately groomed and bathed and was a pleasure to work on. Kisses as her thank you during the whole ordeal. What a sweetheart she is! We know so far that she chases cats, but what Fieldie doesn't? If the cats don't run she ignores them. Through past experience, this should subside with time and supervision, and as the cats get more relaxed. She rides very well in a car, but pulls somewhat on a leash. Kalie loves to play catch and knows the word NO. It is unknown at this time if she is housetrained, but didn't mind using the kennel while we ate dinner. For the short time she has been here, she seems to be adjusting rather quickly. A vet appointment has already been scheduled for Thursday, and hopefully she'll get all her shots and a clean bill of health. I wanted her on the site as soon as possible, but she won't be adoptable until she has been with us for at least a week to ten days. If she interests you, feel free to contact us or come for a visit, but be sure you have an approved ESRA application to adopt first ! Update 22JUN06: Yesterday Kalie was put under anesthesia for removal of foxtails deep down in her ears. She also was found to have an ##### gland infection that is also causing frequent unrination. It's no wonder, as we had to shave her entire rear section in order to find her tail. It was matted terribly. She is on antibiotics for the above, which have already started to ease her discomfort. Other than this she is in really good health. She is now up to date on all her vaccinations, microchipped, and is heartworm negative. Her problems should be totally cleared up within a week to ten days. Thru all this she remains a very loving and sweet little "wiggle butt" pup. The cat chasing has almost stopped completely, and she is housetrained. A few "accidents" (urination) have occurred, but I'm sure it's due to her infection. As of now, she is ready for adoption and will make an excellant companion for any approved applicant. Kalie is a little chunky, but she's working on her girlie figure each day by not consuming everything in sight. What an appetite she has! This little girl has been one of the easiest fosters we've ever had. She is really no trouble at all! Will you find it in your heart to fill the void in her's by giving her a loving Forever Home to call her own? If you so much as visit Kalie, she will win you over and you will be getting a wonderful, loving, and appreciative Forever Friend for life! Comments: Just so you know what she's been thru, I traced her microchip to a backyard breeder, who sold her to a broker, who in turn sold her to a pet shop in Orange County. From there, she was adopted, but the chip info was never updated to the new owner. Somehow, a few yrs later, she was found as a stay on the streets of Lake Elsinore. I also learned she was three and a half years old, but the shelter had her listed as eight!. That tells you how bad she looked. Her birthdate is 12/30/02, and she came from a litter of seven. She now looks her age, and has never lost her Springer personality and temperment thru all this neglect.
