Album Info:
Age: 6 years Gender: Female Color: Liver/White Weight: 46 lbs. Variety: Field-bred Prepare to get your heart stolen when you meet Princess Mattie. She is unbelievably sweet. We took her to an Adoption show and she is the best Springer ambassador. She loves to meet everyone. Anyone who comes within 20 feet of her will experience her greeting them with an attentive sit, gentle nuzzling and maybe a paw. She loves children and all dogs, even the grumpy ones. She has not been tested with cats at this point. Every single human is her new friend. She is just so outgoing and happy. She has the greatest temperament. Mattie is well-trained. She listens well and wants to please. She knows Sit, Down, Off, No, etc. She is housetrained, although she doesn't tell you she has to go out. You have to remember to take her out and she goes. She didn't bark or whimper for the first few days of foster care. She is not vocal and is not a watch dog. She does have a few bad habits. First of all, she loves the couch and the bed. Anything soft to plop on... she's game. But she IS a princess! She also counter surfs like a pro. Don't plan on leaving any goodies on the counter or they will be gone. She wants you to share when you have a donut, but when you tell her to get down, she will, for a few seconds and then she is begging again. Finally, she likes to explore so being on a leash is mandatory. She would do so well in a fenced-off dog park, though. Her vet check yielded great results. Everything is normal and healthy, and she is now spayed and up to date on shots. Her teeth are very, very worn, but there is no tartar and her gums are very healthy. Our guess is that she tried to chew her way out of a kennel at some point. Princess's real name is Princess and we know her history. Her story is sad. Her first owner bragged that she put her kids through college on Princess's puppies. Then the owner gave her to a friend. The friend left her at a neighbor's when she was moving and did not come back for her. The neighbor contacted a local rescue who asked for our help. She was in horrible condition when we got her and the photos prove mats that are years old. However, her yucky appearance didn't hide her beauty and her loving heart. She was incredibly patient while we groomed her for several hours. Even when I combed and clipped painful areas, she just nuzzled me. When I nicked her skin, she was forgiving and knew we were helping her. Mattie is very attached to her foster mom. She's been in foster care for a week, and that's enough for her to know that she is in doggie heaven as far as homes go. She doesn't want to let her foster mom out of her sight. SHe's been lucky that her foster mom stays at home. Most of our adopters work, and it might be a bit of an adjustment. Mattie has been in the fenced backyard when she has been alone, and that has only been for a few hours. As the Coordinator, I meet a lot of wonderful dogs and I pretty much fall in love with them all. Mattie IS special. She is incredibly happy, loving, and downright adorable. I want someone to adopt her who sees her for the princess that she is.
