Her life has been a difficult one to say the least and it's amazing that she has been able to maintain her sweet and happy personality. In just 20 months, Tessa has already been in two homes and a shelter. In her most recent home, she was filthy and covered in fleas and forced to live outside by herself confined to a small area. More than likely, she had little affection and socialization. But, fortunately for Tessa her life has drastically changed. She's a perfect little lady in her foster home. She gets along with her foster springer brother and sister, is great with the cats, does beautifully left alone unattended, is almost completely housetrained, and sleeps quietly next to her foster mom and dad's bed at night. She crates fine but prefers not to be. Tessa would do well with older children. She immediately attaches herself to anyone who shows her gentleness, love and kindness. She'll be your constant shadow and never take her eyes off of you. Tessa adores having inside and outside privileges so she has plenty of opportunity to chase birds and squirrels up trees all day long. But when she comes inside she wants nothing more than to crawl up on your lap to snuggle with you. As with many dogs who come from such an unfortunate past, Tessa would really benefit from a family who can provide her with a stable, interactive and loving home. The instability and neglect in her life has made sweet Tessa very insecure and somewhat fearful in uncertain situations. She needs someone to help her regain her confidence in humans with some obedience training and lots and lots of love and attention!
