Age: 2 years Gender: Male Color: Black/White Weight: 40 lbs. Variety: Bench/Show-bred This beautiful boy was pulled from the shelter at the last minute, and now is safe in foster care. One of his helpers called him "Sammy" and he seemed to like that name. Sammy just arrived in foster care, so we'll have to update more soon. We do know that he absolutely loves people and no one is a stranger. He really loves to play with children. He likes fetch and toys. He is fine with cats. We are studying his behavior with the other dogs in the foster home. He did well with other dogs at the shelter but so far is figuring out who is boss with a male dog at the foster home. Sammy appears to be housetrained and he rides in the car beautifully. He knows a few commands and listens well. He does not beg. He will stay in a crate but will bark for about 10 minutes. He enjoys cuddling and likes to lie at your feet. Sammy developed kennel cough and is being treated with antibiotics. He won't be neutered until it is all cleared up. Sammy has had a hard couple of weeks and really wants a permanent, loving home where he can give you lots of Springer wags. Update 09/16/05: After a little time in foster care, we have learned that Sammy does well with most dogs after a little adjustment time. He would do best with a playful young female dog. We also know that Sammy can jump a 3-4 foot fence if he wants to go say hello to the neighbors. Sammy will need a good, high fence. Sammy can also jump up high to get a frisbee. Like many young dogs, Sammy is exuberant and pulls on his leash. We are working on that, and his tendency to jump up on people. Otherwise, he is pretty well-mannered and willing to please. He loves swimming as well as walks. Sammy's health is recovering well. He battled kennel cough and cheet grass in his paws, which was removed. He's also been on his own long enough to be pretty thin and hungry. However, he had a great check-up and will be neutered soon. He is looking for a family who
