Tanner - I luv him! Distance horse - bad hunter training...

Album Info:
Love this horse and wish I had not sold him but he was another one that was sort of rescued from one situation to be helped along to a good situation - not meant to keep. I helped my friend buy him when he was 5 and she put him in training with one of the top hunter trainers in Southern CA who really did not have time to train only to show. So this horse was jumping the first day he went under saddle there, before he knew his leads. He went with it at first but then started acting out, refusing jumps and eventually went lame in the stifle. The owner figured out the trainer was really not good for her and the horse and started trainer-hopping. But the horse's stifle was sore and seemed that she may have ruined him. She thought. I then took him back - rehabbed the stifle and used classical training to strengthen him. I did not jump him at all. He went to a show and won all his classes, despite being very hot and excited! =) He loved dressage work. Then when we thought we were moving I was forced to make a choice - to place him in a good home or buy him from the horse rescue who he was going to be contracted under for preotection. I sold him to two teens who jump and a mom who does dressage. At the sale, that week we jumped him a little and low to see how he felt and this time around, he loved it. They are now doing super with him and he is known at his barn as the best brain and gentlest TB ever! Horray! Success!

I'm so sorry to hear about his series of bad handling situations and a tainer who obviously wasn't one. Glad to know that you got him back and nursed him back to 100% health. All horses should love what they do and it seems like he finally found a wonderful "forever home" with good people who love him. Congrats!
