Album Info:

Possibly this horse is an example of a rare genetic happening-normally Perlinos are double dilutes, but this horse only has one copy of the creme gene, so shouldn't be this color. There may be a new gene we don't know much about that occurs in some horses-notably a paint horse stallion, but also possibly in a Lusitano stallion, and now, perhaps Bravio!

    • News flash!! The gene that causes this color has been identified by UC Davis and now has a test for it!(as of October 06) The gene is a recessive that reacts with cream to produce the psudo-double dilutes! The gene is known officially as "Pearl" What was known as "Barlink factor" in Paints has been identified as the same gene as the one identified in Spanish horses. I have to say, this is an exciting discovery. :-)
