Sylviacox, Could you post "When you call, ask for adoption- do not talk to anyone else.And, you must have the cage# and ID #." etc for everyone can see it? Some people may not read the guestbooks. If you posted it somewhere and I missed it. Please excuse my post. Thanks again.

2 yr Rott mix PTS 6/2/04 Hi, my name is Dixie. I 1st saw this dog on 6/1/04. I was going to adopt him the next day. I called that morning to make sure they wouldn't put the dog to sleep. I told the lady exactly where he was in the adoption area, the 1st row 2nd to the last kennel. She didn't do anything about it. When I came to pick him up, I ran to his kennel, I was so excited to see him. I bought a camera to take pics of him and a new red leash and Coller w/a tag with his new name on it, (Murphy). He wasn't there, I was devistated to find out they put my dog to sleep. I look at the pic and cry, because all she had to do was get out of her seat and find my dog. Now to find out he was PTS for no reason breaks my heart and infuriates me all at the same time. I wanted the dog so bad, he was everything I wanted in a dog and more. When I went to the office to ask them why. They told me they couldn't hold dogs with out being given an i.d #. I was crying so hard, the lady told me he was agressive to make it sound like he was a bad dog, but like that was going to make me feel better. I knew it was a lie because if he was he wouldn't be up for adoption. He would have been in the aggressive dog section. I know I never really owned him but it truely feels like somebody killed my dog. R.I.P Murphy, I wish you could have been mine.

I just read your post about the male shepherd mix that was pts on 6/2/04, because his sorry excuse for an owner wouldn't bail him out. How could anyone with a soul stand in that shelter, look their own dog in the eye and claim "they like him but don't know if they want to get him out or not?" What is wrong with these people? From the top on down, there is a lack of respect and compassion for the animals of Memphis, TN. How terribly sad there are so many animals that have and will suffer due to this stupidity. Sylvia, you and everyone involved in rescue in the Memphis area really have your hands full down there. Rest in peace to all that do not make it out of that shelter alive.
