MORE Gone, NOT forgotten (2)

Sylvia, After reading things about this shelter,like what happened to this cocker puppy, I am wondering if there is any campaign for reform being sought? Is there any protests being staged or letters bombarding Memphis officials? This shelter is sickening and needs reform!

For those NOT in the Memphis area, an extremely intense thunderstorm moved through the county around 7 am this morning. So, much of the county is in a mess at this time. About 70% of the 'customers' for power in Shelby County have NO power. It will be days, some areas, weeks, before it is restored everywhere. We are not sure when we will be able to post a complete shelter update. Taking the pictures and info is one thing, but if no power, no computer! I may try to work something out with Jeanne to make use of my computer a work, but not sure about any of that right now. For anyone in rescue in the area -- if you need to know the status of any dogs at the shelter or need to know about new dogs coming in, you may need to go there yourself (or have someone go for you that has the time). I hope we can get back to normal in a day or two, but it may take longer. More info will be posted as we have more to tell.

I just read in today's CA about the dog lost on 7/24 being PTS after being held out of public view. The owner came to the shelter several times to look for the dog but did not see him. The dog was wearing a tag but the owner was not called until 8/5. He went to the shelter on his lunch hour only to find out the dog had already been put down. How could this happen?? Are there no ruules to follow? Can anything be done?
