  • Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Ria The Netherlands

  • Hi, Ginny; I think we met here at Webshots! I was looking at some of your other pictures of Rio and Raja and realized I hadn't been to your page in ages. You know how badly I feel about you losing Raja. We hope only the best for you, your brother and Rio and the rest of your flock. Of course, you know that things move slowly in "bird time". It took some of our rescues over a year to adjust. So I guess it's just love and patience and one day at a time...

  • Thanks for your kind words - we've exchanged emails too so you know how it is. Bird people understand the hurt for sure. I cannot imagine you without Mango - he is a wonderful beautiful guy. We are hanging in there. Took Rio to the Bird Store yesterday to socialize and help her through it. She isn't eating a lot. Hopefully that will change. She seems to accept it but refuses to sit on "their perch." I guess it makes her miss him too much. I've given her another manzanita perch and she doesn't hesitate to sit there. I guess she will have to depend on the bond between us now because there is no way I could ever replace Raja and I'm at the age now where I shouldn't have any new birds. We will all be okay eventually. Thanks, again, friends.

  • Our deepest sympathy for your sudden loss of a beautiful blue and gold Macaw "Raja"... We know you will miss him, I told Val about your loss and she offers her sincere condolences along with me. All bird people know the deep bond that forms between humans and our feathered friends. So many times we have been tempted into getting more birds but have resisted, for now we only have "Mango", perhaps later we may add to our flock as they are such a joy and certainly bring mech pleasure with all their antics. Time will heal your great loss, we are thinking of you. Charles and Val Turner

  • Thanks, Charley, he was my loudest, most beautiful bird. I loved him very much and he will be missed by my brother and I both and also the rest of the flock. He always called everyone to bed at night and squawked until all were in. I have no idea how this will effect his mate. I hope she can accept it without grieving too much. They were all around when he died. It was instant and totally unexpected. It is way too quiet here this morning. They all know something has happened to our Raja. Thanks for your thoughts. I have always had lots of pictures of him and movies as well. Ginny

People think im odd when i talk about my grey, but to me she is my life. I dont plan on having any children anytime soon...so for now i guess you can say she is my baby. She learns so much each day. Just recentally my husband taught her how to quack like a duck. But whats funny about that is right after she quacks for a few moments she meows. Poor thing is going through an identy crisses. Anyways just wanted to drop in a line. Thanks for showing ur pics on the web. Another bird fenatic. Erin

  • Hi ginny. Thank you for visiting my album. You certainly have your hands full with a whole family of parrots. What beauties they are! Love raja and rio. I see Raja likes laying on his back and playing, as does our male macaw Beau. You asked where the hyacinth macaws come from. We got each from a Florida and California aviary, but they are native to the rainforests of Brazil, I believe. We got them under a year old and have had them about five years now here in Lancaster, Virginia. I have heard them dubbed the gentle giants of the macaws. If they are gentle, I'd hate to see rough. Most times they are gentle, kind, playful and delightful.
