Hi Mary I called the local rescue/rehab group but it made its way to the water before they got there. I stay on the phone with them for an hour letting them know how it was doing. I watched until he floated down the beach until I couldn't get to it. Hopefully it was alright. Sometimes they just need to rest. I alsofound a Northern Gannet on the Island and called the Park Ranger who tried to catch it. It did fly out to the water but my bird expert friend said it looked in bad shape and would probaly die

I am a birder and am trying to find out why Loons get beached. I vacation often on the Gulf of Mexico and concerned because I see several loons beached each time. Do they misland and cannot take off from land? Or, are they sick from mercury/lead? Does anyone know this answer? What are humans to do when they see a beached loon? I have researched and researched and cannot come up with any concrete answers. Nice pictures. Glad you got one that is beached.

Hi from FRANCE ! Nice pictures, they'r excellent! This is a beautiful album very original ! Bird photography is extremely difficult, you need a lots of patience and a lot a talent. I downloaded 4 or 5 pictures to add to my screen saver album. Please drop by my albums if you like birds. Philippe

Ms. Bailey, I work for North Carolina State Parks. We are currently working on exhibits for visitor centers at our state parks. In a search for bird images, I found your website of bird photos. We would like permission to use some of your photos. I haven't had a chance to look through all of them yet, but I could send you a list. Would you charge anything for high resolution images? We would need at least 8 x 10 at 300 dpi. These would be for educational purposes only and of course you would be given credit. Please contact me directly at the e-mail address or phone number below. Thank you. Lori Fleming District Interpretation and Education Specialist NC Division of Parks and Recreation lori.fleming@ncmail.net (919) 841-4060
