Album Description:

There aren't as many cats in the shelter as there are dogs, but many cats also do not get out alive. This album is a memorial for them - it will be the only one, as I no longer get current shelter pics. Updated 4/2/05

  • Sylvia, as an animal lover, especially fond of cats, your album overwhelms my heart. I worked for many years in a local SPCA and had to be a part of euthanasia and it is something I never truely get over. Today I have 3 kitties I love very much! I am an artist that would love the opportunity to paint some of your photos with proceeds going towards the upkeep of these wonderful creatures. Pls contact me via my website to discuss this possiblity pls. Here is a link for you to see some of the portraits I have done to date. http://www.geocities.com/lofleisure/catportraits.html You may click on the banner to access the site. Thank you Slyvia

  • I work in animal rescue and your pictures touched me. I appreciate your memorials of these animals who died needlessly-it is important to remember them. Thank you Sylvia.

  • I am a cat-person, and your album made me cry. Thank you for giving them the tribute they deserve. I will give my Phoebe & Rachel an extra hug.

  • I needed a tissue when I read that these kitties have goon to the Rainbow Bridge. Knowing that, I gave my two babies an extra hug this morning. Thank you. OOPS. I just realized that I've already told you how much your album effected me. Lynn

  • Thank you SO MUCH for giving faces to the nameless masses. This is just what people need to WAKE UP and spay/neuter their pets. I have 12 wonderful cats here myself (all spayed/neutered). I love them all like family. Again, thanks for taking the time.

  • Once again the pictures of these deceased cats makes me so sad and the list keeps growing. I've always been a responsible pet owner in having my cats spayed/neutered. I'm going to give my cat Autumn an extra hug today. Thank you for exposing what is the end result of irresponsible pet ownership.

  • This breaks my heart. I just lost my rescued cat of 17 years. I picked him up on the side of the road and had his jaw rewired. His name was Roadie and I miss him very much. He was a wonderful friend. It is so sad that these beautiful little souls never had a chance. Why can't people take responsibility for their animals? It's so easy to do but so devastating when it's not. I have a terminal illness and my other rescued cat and dog are now living with my sister and I miss them terribly. Please keep up your wonderful work. Prehaps the message will finally get though when people see the results of their neglect. I'll certainly keep these dear ones in my thoughts.

  • God bless you for being able to work in that place. I have two kitties that are my babies, one is a *loaner*, the other a little "gray stray", and both of them are spayed/neutered and loved dearly. Like I said, I couldn't work there...I'd have all those sweet kitties home here with me before I'd see them put to sleep. :-(((

  • Dear Sylvia~ Amen. Amen to your efforts and compassion. I am a cat lover and it TRULY breaks my heart to see so many loving animals go somewhere else but to a new loving home. I struggled to view all of the pictures... but I made it through in honor of all of those cuddly little furballs. All of my family's cats are shelter kitties. I recently moved out on my own and I adopted my own shelter kitty... her name is Anabel and she was within hours of euthanasia. I saw the words "Please Hurry!" under her name on the shelter's webpage and sped off to give her a new loving home. Her cage was in among the dog cages... she was scared and alone... but once she acclimated to my home, she has been my little lovebug! I made it a point to adopt from a shelter that euthanizes so I could do my small part to save an innocent life. Also, Anabel was an "adult" when I adopted her, which also made me feel good because adults seem to be harder to find homes for. Thank you so very, very much for sharing. Eventhough it makes me cry thinking about all of those kitties, it warms my heart to know that for at least a few moments of their short lives, they came in contact with you... someone who truly cared for them. God Bless you, Sylvia.

  • I think it is a very good think that you keep these albums up. Poor kitties :( It is just horrible... I hope everyone who sees this album cries and then remembers how these cats got in this situation in the first place....
