  • Hi Ellen, In answer to your questions: Yes, Cricket got a new home with a younger lady (nurse) that has a green wing macaw and a double yellow head amazon that is 25 yrs old. She's a good bird mom or I would not have given him up. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with my situation. I'm 71 now, still working a full time job and I have lots of parrots - my brother helps me. Need to start rehoming so that they are not left to the mercy of everyone when something happens to me. I lost favor with Cricket when I brought 3 other parrots into the house. He never forgave me and would attack every opportunity that I let my guard down. I still love him and remember how it used to be. :) Your grey certainly is enjoy the outdoors. I used to take my birds out when they were younger but now that they are older they are only out when in a carrier or another small cage. Some smaller birds can fly even if clipped. Our lovebird Peaches went out on my brother's shoulder one time and flew all the way across the street. My brother thought he was gone for sure but he caught him. Peaches was with us 9 years and then out of the blue our Caique killed him. It happened in a matter of minutes - I had just seen him sitting on his boing in the window - when I returned he was on the floor, dead, with puncture wounds in his chest and his little body was still warm. It happened on my birthday last year. I was heartbroken. He was a great little guy and thought he was as big as the rest of them. It is amazing to me how birds watch everything you do. He was always very interested in what we were doing and was a happy little bird. The Caiques, lovebird and cockatiels always from the time they were babies perched together. That day something went wrong and I still do not know what caused him to attack little Peaches. I am addicted to parrots - like you. I'll come back and visit when I have more time.
