  • Hi - Nice shots from Cat shows. Great cats. I use to breed Persians for many years, but today I have shorthair only. I have some albums from shows in Scandinavia. Greetings from Norway. EVA

  • What beautiful kitties!!! A Lovely album. So hard to understand how some people can be heartless to these lovable creatures. You do a great job of caring for them... Well done for everything!!! Cheers from Helen in Australia

  • Because they're lazy. Rather than groom the cat regularly they just keep the coat shaved down. Shelter cats are often shaved down as well if they come in really badly matted from neglect. My little Spooky (who died last year of PKD) was a little black Persian that had to be shaved to the skin it was that bad. It takes a LONG time for a cat to grow its coat back and like you said, often doesn't ever come back completely right. I don't understand people - if you won't take the time to groom a longhaired cat then DON'T GET ONE! Can you imagine how well Mocha will do at shows with a full coat? She's going to be even more gorgeous! Her owner said that "cat gets very lethargic and hates having long hair so I shave her". WTF? When I first got her I tried brushing her and she was scared. But I quickly realized she'd just NEVER seen a brush or comb before. Now she'll sit right in my lap while I brush her and even lets me stand her up on her hind legs to brush out her tummy, chest and neck. With Percy I use a comb since he has a full coat. It gets out the undercoat hairs nicely. I only have to comb him at least every third day and he stays mat free and never has hairballs.

  • I love viewing your show albums. I'm so amazed at the patience some of the cats have for being handled. I hope you can answer one question I have; Why do people shave a cat? My rescue cat was also shaved when I found her and her hair has never grown back correctly. She has a ring of very short hair around her shoulder area. It's been almost two years and I don't think it will ever look like it should. She apparently had a Lion cut. Keep the albums coming...Gloria
