Album Description:
Lilly, my 5 year old Umbrella Cockatoo, has always picked at her feathers, usually during the winter months. She has also occasionally made little sores that scab over. I started putting a t-shirt vest on her a couple of years ago when sh

Helloe, I felt so bad no one commenting on this soI joined. I am online looking for info because my Linnie cracked his beak, I can see it bled, and clotted and am wondering if it will be ok. I feel terribly guilty not beign able to take him to the vet at this time due to financial difficuties. But I have a fostered Tiel, Nadjia, who came here plucked to death; she still is. She got too cloes with one of teh males (the stupid rescue person sent me 8 tiels, male and female in one cage andtold me they would be andhad been find no problems) Well, when matingseson came all hell broke loose. I seperated the three males into small disster cages, andteh females remain in teh original caeg except for Nadjia who is in with my other rescued Tiel Merlin who is of eellent temperment. Nadjia laid 12 eggs if you can believe it. I was sick for 8 weeks and evidently she got cloe to a male again, I guess and now has laid another 5 so far. She only had about a month + to regain her calclium stores in her medullaray bones for goodness sake. I feel terrible for her. She comes to me no matter where she is; even on sunporch, she scratches on screen door to come to me so she can layher egg, On my chest lst night I looked down and there was the fifth., I feel terrible for her. This is nsot helpingher plucking adn feather destruction. I don't know how to post her pics but if you sw them youwould die. You can see where the bones give rise to the blood feathers. I wonder how to obtain a vest or body sock for her? Can anyaone help me with this? SHe is so tiny and fragile. And the smartest of smart birds. Out of all the birds she is one who is most closelybonded after being here only a short time and who shows the most intelligence via communicating needs and maneuvering her way etc. Thanks to anyone who can help. I will pray your bird gets better. It sounds like she needs more moistuerin teh air and you might want to add seed with fats in them or nuts to her diet and also any oil of choice in her soft food, Nekton for feather problems.
