  • Whilst there ARE Rainbow Lorikeets in WA we don't have any in our locality (about 60 k's north of Perth) Neither do we have Tawny Frogmouth or Budgies. The Butcher Bird is only a very infrequent visitor and we don't get King Parrots either. And sparrows and starlings are classed as vermin here and shot on sight! There again I guess we have several varieties that you don't get to see so it evens itself out in the long run. Like you I enjoy taking photos of the birds having fun in the bird bath and the parrots enjoying the feeder. They have got to know that I always top the feeder up about 7.30am and are usually waiting for me, ready to tuck in as soon as my back is turned! Yes, at long last we have had some decent rains - now we are hoping to get some good follow up falls, but we are still way down on our annual average with only the dry months ahead of us now. Did you ever see my Queensland albums? The photos were shot over two or three visits during the 1980's so no doubt there will have been lots of changes since. We have fond memories of Twin Falls, Purlingbroke and other areas in the Gold Coast hinterland, plus the Sunshine Coast and hinterland. Thanks for visiting and for your comments, Hugs, Peter

  • Hello Bev, You have quite an assortment of visitors to your garaden. I liked the splashing water in the parrot bath. I amost did not see the frogmouth, but then I looked again. And the gekko's...I glad that I don't have those. LOL Hugs, Cynthia

  • This is a wonderful collection of images of the creatures that visit your Garden...we have many of the same here on the Coast (Sydney's Northern Beaches). The Tawny Frogmouth is a shy one during the day and tries very hard to convince us that he is not there!....I have NEVER seen WILD Budgies, what a treat!...we have dozens of Rainbow Lorikeets visit us on a daily basis for their 'fix' of Sunflower seed.....Helen
