  • Hi Eric! What a treat to see these wonderful giants! They are not common in Canada: we see the Clysdales, Percherons & Belgians more often..I would have loved to have been there at the show, too, but this is ALMOST as good as! Thank you for sharing these marvelous photos! All the best---Nancy

  • Hi Eric, I am sure that you have got more than enough photo's tucked away for a mear one a day, lol. I remember well the working Horses on the fenland farms of my youth, albe it they were always Suffolk Punches or Percherons, little matter my mother on the farm in Northumberland, when she was young worked with Shires and Clydesdales. A super album very nostalgic, seems these days with the weather we are always out and about somewhere, I hope you are well and take care, Ken

  • Hello Eric... Stopped by to look at this album while I was here at your site writing a message. I thought this ws a wonderful album! When I was a young girl in Texas,, even with loads of quarter horses and several arabians around, I was always most fond of the shires! So, naturally I smiled when I was reading of your childhood days and of you riding the shire! I know you loved it! How I'd love to attend this show one day! Thanks for sharing this wonderful album. There a few horse lover friends of mine that I will e-mail the link for site so they can enjoy it too. I am glad to see that Marita has already found the album, and more glad that you shot it and posted it! LOL :) Best regards. Jodi

  • Hello Eric, this album is very beautiful and wonderful in the many details. The show how much work it is to get a horse ready for the show. I see there is a great tradition involved; it shows. Everyone tense to get the last detail perfect. I've never seen so perfectly washed and dressed up horses. I love the part around the pretty white and shiny legs. --- Thank you very much for your many comments over the last month. Oh yes, you travel around the world and I stay visiting some trees wildflowers and my getting ready for Passover. --- Our Almond trees grow quite high, but not that high. They are very handy to still get pictures of the bloom without breaking the neck using a ladder. :-) --- The Coral tree is very famous in Brazil and also in parts of India. They are insignificant when not in bloom. --- Yes, the Pine is also called Turkish Pine. There are soooooo many pines! This one belongs to the eastern part of the Mediterranean. I have l earned from this album that there are different Processionary, some for every tree. Some of them are larvae like those I saw, and some of them are caterpillars like the one of the Australian Acacia. I even found somewhere what the difference is. Here it comes: They differ from the larvae of Lepidoptera (true caterpillars) in only having six legs, and not sixteen (the six true legs plus an extra ten prolegs) which most Caterpillars have. Fascinating! In my guestbook I learned about many people knowing them closely. They are a serious pest to every tree. --- The Judas tree does not like frost and is not very high. Very difficult do believe that Judas hanged himself in that tree. --- Eric, I wish you the most wonderful holidays - Galit

  • O.k. Eric, as you British people always do you had me very confused, I always have a dictonary handy when attempting to decifer, LOL. The 3 Gs, and falling off with long way down? I kept looking and saw your ships, and thought: british sense of humour? Well now that I found this awesome album I am kinda thinking you may have been refering to this??? Regardless, you know I enjoyed it tremendously. I would have loved to attend this myself, maybe next time give me some advance warning and we'll meet up (and finish with a Wherry fine beer :D). Cheers. Marita

  • Beautiful horses - they look as if all were dressed for Sunday... As we had no idea what "shire horses" were, we asked Mr Google, and got plenty of interesting facts! So special thanks to have contributed to our equestrian knowledge! - Best wishes: Kaethi and Henri
