Dear Marjie, Bella is indeed a beautiful lady. She has very pretty markings. As you say, she is very inquisitive, but she also enjoys resting and relaxing. Thank you for asking to become my friend. Aren't these Siamese simply beautiful and loving. My Molly is 7 years old already. I worked for 31 years and my husband would not let me have a cat without anyone home. So, the following week after I retired I started looking for a Siamese and found one almost instantly. She means a lot to me.

We have visited Tian Tian and Mei Xiang and now Tai Shan several times in the last few years and continue to be amazed by their entertaining antics and their complex interaction. Some visitors stand there for hours enthralled with their show. Unfortunately there are only four zoos (only two with cubs) in the US that have Giant Pandas with San Diego being the closest to you, although I understand that Nebraska may be getting a pair soon. As far as why they are endangered – everything seems to be stacked against them. Most of their natural habitat is now gone and continues to diminish in spite of China’s recent efforts to curtail that. Add to the loss of habitat that females come into estrus for only 24 to 48 hours once a year and typically only one cub (at most) in the wild survives from a successful mating. In addition, Giant Pandas are former carnivores (notice the canines) recently adapted to eating only certain types of bamboo and bamboo has an almost complete die off every few years causing additional pressure on their survival. Actually, it’s surprising that they are still around. The Red Pandas are also endangered and uncommon in zoos. The two in Philadelphia are a father and son pair with the mother having passed away some months ago and I don’t really know how old they are. The certainly have beautiful coloration and very shiny expressive eyes. </font>
