Album Description:
Birds, Ducks and Other Feathered Friends always make us smile. I usually don't like to include repetitive photos of the same birds, but some of these were putting on a pretty good show. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Hi Sharon: I have enjoyed this album so much. Great photos and the captions are wonderful. I especially like the Hyacinth Macaw and the Blue Bellied one. Forgot the rest of his name. Sorry anyway just wanted to let you know I have browsed and enjoyed. Thank you so much for the kind words about my Crafts album. I have dabbled in lots of different things. Just for fun. Love, Kay

Ialso like the ones disscussing their flight plans to come and see yours truely. LOL. Thanks for the invite Sharon and thanks for sharing. Catch you later! Hugs and handshakes Al

Hi Sharon, Your weekend seemed even more beautiful than ours. It sure was a great weekend to stroll through the zoo. I loved the color and variety of birds in your album. Where were the rest of the zoo animals??? lol Wondeful photos you've shared though. I enjoyed your captions as well. It's nice to be out and about after our winter hibernation (so to speak). :o) Well, I shall be on my way now. You and Bob take care and blessings too! Ray

Hi, Sharon, I just got through a double viewing of this fascinating album and am still in awe of the wonders of nature I have just seen. You have such an interesting way to present these feathered friends in their daily natural activity, in wonderful color and with sharp details, that it's the next best thing to being there at the StLouis zoo. Thanks for the invitation - it was a joy, and I hope your album gets featured real soon, wo that the WS membership may enjoy it also. With my best wishes, bruno

Hi Sharon, WOW!! They sure are humorous and beautiful ... and indeed also feathered.. I love your birds! I think I would like to move to St. Louis, I said that before I think... that would not make me famous and excellent photographer as you and Bob of course, but would give me the opportunity to have all this fantastic beauties at the Zoo, the botanical garden, the orchid shows etc.etc. In some few days this will be featured... WS pickers now sometimes pay attention and will honor this masterpiece. Here are my favorites # 1, 20 (fantastic) 25, 30, 31, 38, 39, 48, 56(have never seen a saddleback stork- when the stork brought me to my mother it had no saddle I tell you, I was just hanging in a diaper from his beak, and was screaming in those hights, good that it was summer -born in August - otherwise would have caught my first cold :-)57, 64 fantastic pair, 65 and 70 Mr Stanley. Sharon this is magnificent and I looked 2 times the show.. almost forget to comment on the two turkeys marching in behind the fat lady...in one word this is such a pleasure to see. Thanks for the stroll without paying admission. Hugs for both of you/kathy************* PS I also do not understand why the pop ups do not work correctly, my favorite members new albums sometimes show and some others don't. Good that today it worked.

Hi Sharon. Another great album. I love birds. My backyard has really been busy the last few days. All kinds of birds. The robins are plentiful this year. It's fun to watch them pull worms out of the ground. I don't know how they find them. I wake up every morning to the sound of birds singing. I guess that's a sign of spring. I haven't taken any new photos lately, haven't been out much. You and Bob have a great day, Dwight

Hi Sharon and Bob...Wow what a fun and great album. I have never seen pelicans, so it was nice to see them in a photo. I love the bright blue colour of the hyacinth macaw. Your comments are great too. The turkeys are funny and go right up to the people! I love the shot of all the flamingos and pelicans in the water. Just wonderful. Oh gee, that bird that was sunbathing does look hurt. Thank goodness he isn't. He looks gorgeous in the tree with all the bright colours. It was nice to see all the ducks, the crane, egret, the eagle and the others. The stork looks so funny...nice funny though. I like the magpie too. These are really nice photos of all the birds and fowl. Even vultures....maybe they are not so bad afterall. I am glad you saw a peacock too but I guess he did not display all his colours for you. I know you enjoyed this visit to the zoo. hugs and love, Barbara

Hi Sharon! I thought I'd drop in and see what's new. I can see that this is a brand new album & yet, many people have discovered it already!!! What a great day out...and what great subject matter! That blue roller has unbelievable color & he's so cute! Some of the others (like the king vulture) have a lot of color, but they're not quite as cute!!! I'm definitely suffering from "spring fever" and plan on visiting my new local botanic gardens next week. I just hope there are as many flowers in bloom there as there seems to be at your zoo! Thanks for sharing these fun and inspiring pictures!! Love, Lynn

Hello Sharon and Bob! Sorry that we are so late for visiting your really outstanding bird album (you probably know about our second computer breakdown...). Your birds are much more photogenic than our wild birds here around us, and of course, it's because of the experimented photographers that you got such excellent pictures! We are especially interested in your Egret close-ups, our Egrets here are so shy that we can watch them only from too big distances. We also admire King Vulture's beautiful colored head! When I looked at the Blue Bellied Roller before enlarging it, I thought that you have been enclosing a butterfly! :-))) My favotite picture is the one of the flamingos with the pink reflections in the water. Congratulations! Again an album to be featured! Love and hugs, (Henri and) Käthi

Hello Sharon, wonderful photography from you as usual, these birds are not always as easy as it looks, you have to wait to capture the right view of them. my fav has to be the Hyacinth Macaw, what a clever fellow or lady, being able to get outside but has enough sense to go back in his cage. Very Clever. also the herons a very patient bird, prehaps us humans could learn abit from them. loved the album take care and good hunting, Ken

Hi Sharon, Another great album! I love the egrets and the hyacinth macaw. But the canvasback and woodduck took my breath away! Those 2 look like they stepped right off of a duck stamp! Thanks so very, very much for all of the wonderful comments you left for my albums. Widget is a laugh a minute. I have a few more photos of him that I need to add and lots of photos of where he used to be. lol because he moves too fast to photograph. The garden is keeping me very, very busy right now.Soon it will be 100F here, trying to get as much done as possible before that happens. This is the 4th year for my cottage garden. It is finally starting to take shape. For the 1st few years it looked like a madman had sprinkled color everywhere. As you can see I'm starting to broaden the view and show a bit of the garden as well as the flowers. Am also trying to make it to the local community gardens to get some photos. Looking forward to seeing more fabulous photos of the gardens and sites around Missouri. Sheryl, Charleston, SC

did you know that if you contact various zoos (and St Louis is one) and ask about a particular species and mention you have a picture (I usually try to describe the animal(s) I'm wanting to know about), they'll give you an answer, or an email address so send the pic to, then they'll id the species (if you want to know which ducks these are) - Jeanie, Tacoma WA

Hi Sharon, Thanks for the note on my "Signs of Spring" album! Yes, spring is getting under way, but now they're saying we're going to get another dose of winter for a few days! In fact, Bill & I were planning to visit Rocky Mountain NP on Tues, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to do it, or maybe we'll have to wait another week. I'm just dealing with a big dose of SPRING FEVER because I have to spend so much time at the office! Oh...just to be independantly wealthy & take pictures all day!!! ;-) Hope your enjoying more of your "perfect spring weather!" Hugs from sunny, then snowy, then sunny Colorado, Lynn

Hello Sharon! I'm back in this great album that can not be visited in ONE time, it MUST be visited several times: so many interesting details to discover and your instructive and humerous comments...! I love the Macaw (12) story! Beautiful bird, so cute when looking out of the wires! I also was astonished to see the sunbathing bird in 21...! Northern Bobwhite Quails (is Bob proud of this nice name?) are so diffrent from the quails we met in Arizona! Thanks Sharon for you two nice comments in our albums! In both albums, there was just one pictures added, one for Eveline's birthday (new WS member from Switzerland, should be encouraged: "eveline193"... ) and "Lamia textor" a beetle that we already published in the Pebble album, because it's seen very seldom... have a wonderful day! Love and hugs, Käthi

This Blue Hyacinth macaw was a pet before it took up residence at the STL Zoo. It is an awesome bird and very people oriented.

Sharon - I have been away too long - I should have stopped by sooner - These are great shots. The colors and detail is superb. I particularly loved the lighting that you were able to take some of your captures. The backlighting added such wonderful interest. Thanks for sharing these. Best regards, Stan, California

Sharon, got your note. I'm so sorry you are still having the "eyes" problems. I am praying the surgery and the doctors are in GOD's loving hands and I know they will be. I long to have clear eyes also. We are so blessed to have The LORD upholding us! By the way, are you trying to confuse me:) It is still Thursday here. See, the Alzheimer's hasn't taken me yet:) LOVE & GOD BLESS YOU TWO, Betty

Hello Sharon, I loved the tour of your zoo, your photos are fantastic and the colours splendid. I laughed at the pictures of the blue macaw, and yes indeed, the Blue Bellied Roller looked hurt. The cardinals are pure beauty too, in fact, there are too many good pictures to chose a favorite one. Congratulations! Regards from Geneva. Barbara

Hi Sharon, great pictures. The nice thing about zoos is that you can see such beautiful birds close-up and YOU can really show them off in your beautiful photos. Im back at work with the sparrows at my research site. They're not anywhere near as colorful as these, and they tend not to stay put for good photos. Thanks also for your comments on my workplace album. Ive often thought the university was kind of an ugly downtown urban campus, but the lens is making me see it differently. Mike

Second, your close ups are fantastic, got me right into their faces in some shots! The aviary in the St. Louis Zoo seems like it's one of the "must visit" places. St. Louis Arch, move over! - Have a wonderful weekend, Marita! P.S. Sorry almost forgot, thanks for visiting with Al-E-Gator!!!

Howdy neighbor!!! :-) I love this album! The shot of the cardinal was so good to see and rare indeed! Go! Cards! Go! The color of bird feathers are like flowers...simply amazing and fill me with such awe of Creation! Also, Sharon, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my featured 'Emotions' album today! I appreciate your kind comments! I was shocked this morning. I added three new photographs this morning to try and convey my feelings to my WS buddies of what their comments mean to me and I left a message in my guestbook for everyone...so...if you get time, please stop by for another quick visit! Lots of love and hugs! Donna

Hi Sharon, thank you for all your comments on my photos. You have particularly asked if the glass work I took a picture of was made by Dale Chihuly. I am sorry I did not pay attention to the artist's name. Next time I go to Monterey, I promise I will be more attentive. Thanks and Regards. Majed in Texas.

I noticed that your recently visited Al's album "A Day With Magikeith" and (if you haven't already done so) I invite you to visit my "A Day With Big Al" album for another spin on what was a wonderful day with our mutual Webshots friend. What a beautiful album, Sharon. I've missed talking to you. I hope all is well in MO! Hope you had nice visits with your grandchildren this summer. I also hope to see more work from you soon. I think we're moving to the Louisville area by Christmas. I'll keep you posted. Thanks also for visiting my newest album. It's been a while since I've been in the mood to take photos. I think I was still adding photos when you visited, so you might want to stop back by again to make sure. Take care sweet lady and have a great evening! Best, Kris :)
