  • Okay, so I don't agree with the rest of the comments. Hairless rats are ugly. Hairless cats are ugly. Hairless dogs are ugly. Oh, well, it looks like he still has a very sweet personality. I do like pet rats, and I would probably be endeared by his personality alone, but not enough to have one of my own. Oh, well, at least someone finally put some adorable rat pictures on this site. What is it about people and pet rats anyway? They've been bred to be pets for over 4,000 years, according to some data I read in a book I used to have.

  • Yes, Dan Here. This hairless is from a unique strain developed by careful selective breeding and a lot of luck. A true hairless such as Sacky is very rare; mostly there is some hair or even "down" on them. All I can tell you is that they are no longer available through the rattery Sacky was purchased from as it has ceased to exist. I have seen them b4 in the local pet shop, so I would just say keep looking, you will eventually find one. I find the hairless rats less cuddly than the haired ones, it is almost as if their skin is over sensitive and they dislike excessive touch. Sorry I took a while to answer your query, I have been away and just got back.
