  • The public needs to see more photos like these to see what goes on in pet stores. To see the kind of care critters are receiving. My sis is a seargent with an animal shelter locally and she will not let any kind of abuse slide. And she keeps tabs on all those who have a neglect record. She's heard every excuse in the book - but they'll still get that fine - and several checks at her convience. All Gods creatures have her standing by them - and watching for them!! Please keep up the great photos for all to see - this needs to be exposed to all! God bless you. ~~~~Teresa~~~~

  • For more than a year, I have been searching through numerous pet shops asking to leave with the sick reptiles, the abused ones. Its sad to see such an animal without the right care, I've had many store managers fired, and am working on banning a few shops from retile sales for good because of there lack in responsibility. If there is anything I can do to help, my email is RVanEvery84@aol.com

  • I have seen the pics you had about petstore abuse. I am not sure how current they are but I think you should send those pics to the Humane Society or even the cops, to think they keep dead animals and try to pass them up as healthy specimens. They should lose their commercial licence. Send it to the local press too, let everybody else who shops there know what sort of cruel uncaring thugs they are.

  • I can't understand why any store or person would let a sick animal just suffer like that.. I bought a WaterDragon for my husband from a Large pet store and within a week she died. When we went back to tell the person who sold her to us the whole tank of dragons were very sick. I don't know how to help but, IF I can please e-mail me @ doniellep@hotmail.com

  • Good Job! We need more people like you getting involved with helping (not only reptiles) but other helpless animals abused daily by these obviously unknowledgable pet store owners. ANYONE seeing animal abuse in stores ANYWHERE should immediatly report it to the owner and make them aware that they are being observed by caring people who are willing to go the extra mile to stop harming any of gods wonderful creatures that are not able to help themselves. Keep up the good work. Belladonnaphoto1 (A reptile lover...)

  • I was absolutely disgusted at those pet store pics. These bastards are just out to make money. I own a conehead lizard and an iguana and love them to bits. My local pet store is horrible! It's the size of a closet with all types of innocent animals stacked in cages whereever there is room. Puppies are in crate size cages, but allowed out to play in a little pen a half hour a day. SICK. The reptile cages are not attended to, and the fish tanks are full of sludge and algae. Could you give me some advice on how i can help? Who can i get involved in shutting this jerkoff down? Plz, Thz, tjnoble@shaw.ca Keep up the good work!!!!

  • about a week ago i went back to a local pet store near me and the place where they had all of there snakes/lizars made me sick, they had uromastics with bowls of water in there cages (uromasticks are not suppoesed to have water in there cages or else they will get very sick and die) i kno beacuse i own one. Then i notices that up neart the top of the wall there was a gecko of some kind running around loose. then as if that wasent enough i look into the anole tank and all of them looked like a pile of bones with skin on them and there was a dean anole in the anole's water bowl wtf? im thinking can they be serious and i noticed two more dead ones in the back and the deadones looked lik they had been dead for a good 3 days . it just makes me sick especially seening when they have about 30 anoles or bearded dragons in a tank the size of my forearm. i just wanted to buy everything there.

  • I'm glad you are making people aware of the problem. I don't have any herps or other animals commonly sold alongside of them myself. I don't think the general public is aware that some of these animals are endangered in their wild habitats. And, some just shouldn't be pets. I didn't know that people did something as barbaric as sticking plugs up the nostrils of bearded dragons. That's horrible! That's part of where they breathe! I'm just a dumb non-herp owner, but even I understand that this is just plain cruel! Although there are some animals that I am just not fond of, like spiders and snakes, I couldn't imagine doing such cruel things to any animals, even to animals that I am just not fond of. I can't imagine sticking 30 little anoles in a tank that is only five to ten gallons! That's really barely room for one of these little guys, even if they are so tiny! Even I know that! My little brother and I took care of our elementary school's librarian's pet anole that she kept at the school library, over two summers. We were just kids, so I'm sure my mother took over some of Izzy's care. But, we faithfully caught live insects for Izzy to put into his aquarium, so he could catch his favorite food. He didn't like mealworms. He preferred houseflies. Still, for ignorant kids, it left a lasting impression. That little lizard lived its full life span. Everyone loved it, eventhough at the time everyone kept calling him a chameleon. Still, to crowd these little guys that need room to run, is just plain inhumane. I can't imagine what a horrific scene it was for the guest that wrote about all these cute little anoles being kept in crowded conditions like that. Eventhough I don't know much about caring for herps, I would know this isn't right.
