  • Hey, I'm wondering if you have a photo of the old dip vat showing the outside of the shed. I'm trying to reconstruct one that has fallen down. Marcy

  • To Histbuff 100, you didn't give me an e-mail addrss so I could respond. No, I do not have any other photos of the shed itself. Contact me and maybe I can tell you how to go visit the dip vat shown in my photo. The shed's are still standing for the most part. Judgestorytller@aol.com

  • Your album story here sure gives one, (who has never been to Florida), a vastly different impression of it than is usually thought of. Before Florida became so developed, like so many other places, it was a naturalist's paradise. Since I have some green blood in my veins - I can't help myself from thinking of things from that viewpoint - always. Movies such as "Distant Drums" and "The Yearling" come to mind. But since I have to live in the "real world" I'll just have to digest things as they are. A pleasure experiencing a frontier-type view of Florida via your camera work about the "Cracker Trail" experience. Dark-green environmentalist Dave Foreman once said, "in the beginning - it was all Earth National Park." And those words will always come to mind as I look at all of our U.S. landscapes - everywhere.
